# Rose, Combot and Shieldy: Group Bots vs a Channel Tool

**TL;DR**

- Shieldy, Combot and Rose manage Telegram groups: CAPTCHA, spam filters, moderation and analytics.
- Mira fills a Telegram channel with picked posts from websites, YouTube, Reddit and more.
- These are different kinds of tools. A channel with a linked group can use both.
- Skip Mira if your problem is spam or rules in a group chat.

Shieldy, Combot and Rose are group bots. Mira is a channel tool. People compare them because all four work with Telegram, but they do different jobs.

We make Mira, so we are not neutral. We checked the Shieldy and Rose facts on 2026-09-25 and the Combot facts on 2026-10-11 against their own pages. If a fact is wrong, [write to us](https://usemira.pro/contact).

## Channels and groups

Telegram has two ways to reach many people. The tools for each are different.

- **A channel** is one-way. Only admins post. Subscribers read and react.
- **A group** is two-way. Every member can write.

If your subscribers can post, you run a group. If only admins can post, you run a channel.

For the full list of differences, read [Telegram channel vs group](https://usemira.pro/blog/telegram-channel-vs-group).

Spam accounts join groups to post links. A channel has no member posts to guard.

## The 30-second decision

Pick **Shieldy** if you run a group and spam accounts keep joining. New members must pass a CAPTCHA before they can write.

Pick **Combot** if you run a group and want filters, restrictions for new users and analytics.

Pick **Rose** if you run a group and want a wide set of rules: warnings, bans, notes, filters and federations.

Pick **Mira** if you run a channel and need posts. You add sources, and Mira drafts the best items.

If you run a channel with a linked discussion group, use Mira for the channel and a group bot for the group.

## What Shieldy does

Shieldy's Telegram profile says it fights Telegram spam. Its author wrote that new members first pressed a button to prove they were human.

Later versions used image CAPTCHAs. Members type the numbers they see.

Shieldy launched on 8 November 2018, according to its author. The code is open source under the MIT license. According to its repository, it is written in TypeScript, and you can host it yourself.

It also has a premium option. The repository lists monthly, yearly and lifetime payments through Stripe. Shieldy does one job, and we found no analytics, notes or federations on its pages.

## What Combot does

Combot's site says it turns a Telegram group into a managed community. It lists customizable filters, restriction policies for new users and spam protection. It also lists an analytics dashboard, a trigger system for automatic answers and scheduled announcements.

Its Telegram profile describes moderation, analytics, anti-spam and content management for groups and channels. According to Combot's site, it has 480,000+ groups, 110,000+ channels and 800,000+ users. Its Combot Anti-Spam system is free for other bots to use.

We found no website, YouTube or Reddit source in the features it lists. Combot reacts to what people write in a chat. It does not pick outside articles for you.

## What Rose does

Rose is a group management bot. Its Telegram profile says it helps you manage your groups.

Its site claims more than 600 million users and 14 million chats. It supports over 30 languages, translated by its community.

The site lists these tools:

- **Anti-spam.** Locks, CAPTCHA, blocklists, antiflood and antiraid.
- **Moderation.** Warnings, restrictions, bans, mutes and kicks.
- **Greetings.** Welcome and goodbye messages.
- **Filters and notes.** Automatic answers and saved messages.
- **Federations.** Ban lists shared across several groups.
- **Topics.** Support for groups with topics.

The public bot is free. Paid Custom Rose Bots are available through the site. We found no source that reads websites, YouTube or Reddit in its features.

## What Mira does

Mira reads sources for one channel. You add websites, a public Telegram channel, YouTube, Reddit, Google News and Bluesky. You describe your channel in a Profile.

Mira scores each item against the Profile and skips repeats of your past posts. The best items wait in your **Inbox**. You edit them, then publish them or add them to your plan.

Mira does no moderation. It has no CAPTCHA and no spam filter. A channel has no member posts to check.

## Which one fits your situation

These are example situations, not customer stories.

### A group hit by spam accounts

You run a large group of developers. New accounts join each day and post scam links. You want the door closed and nothing else.

**Pick Shieldy.** Its CAPTCHA asks each new member to prove they are human. Mira does not work in groups. For warnings, shared ban lists or analytics, look at Rose or Combot.

### A publishing channel

You run a channel about indie games. You post four to six items a day from a dozen feeds. You have no linked group.

**Pick Mira.** It reads the sources, scores the items and gives you drafts.

### A channel with a discussion group

Your channel has a linked group with active members. You spend two hours each morning picking posts, and spam accounts trickle into the group.

**Run both.** Mira drafts the channel posts. Shieldy guards the group.

Each tool works on its own chat.

## Using both tools in one project

A channel can have a linked discussion group. Readers comment there. The two chats are separate, and each needs its own tool.

- **In the channel.** Mira needs admin rights to publish. You approve drafts in the Mini App.
- **In the group.** Shieldy needs the admin rights that its own guide asks for.
- **Between them.** The tools never touch each other's chat.

Set up the channel side first. Check a draft in the **Inbox**, then publish it. Then look at the group.

## When neither one fits

You may run a small group of friends. Spam is not a problem, and you post by hand. Telegram's own settings are enough.

You may need full moderation, not only a CAPTCHA. Then pick Rose or Combot instead of Shieldy.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is the difference between Shieldy, Combot, Rose and Mira?

Shieldy, Combot and Rose manage Telegram groups. Shieldy guards the door with a CAPTCHA, Combot adds filters and analytics, and Rose offers a wide set of moderation rules.

Mira fills a Telegram channel with picked posts. It reads your sources, scores each item with AI and gives you drafts.

### Which one stops spam accounts from joining a group?

Shieldy is built for this: new members must pass a CAPTCHA. Rose and Combot also list spam protection among their tools.

Mira does not: it has no CAPTCHA and no spam filter.

### Can any of them post content from RSS or YouTube to my channel?

Not that we found. The pages of Shieldy, Combot and Rose describe group protection and management, not sources for a channel.

For picked posts from websites or YouTube, use a tool built for that. Mira is one such tool. Read each site to confirm what it offers today.

### Can Mira moderate my group?

No. Mira has no CAPTCHA, spam filter, warnings, notes, federations or member checks. It works with channels, where only admins post.

If you run a group, use a moderation bot.

### Should I use Mira together with a group bot?

Yes, if you run a channel with a linked discussion group. Mira drafts the channel posts, and a group bot guards the group.

They work on different chats, so they do not conflict. If you have no group, you do not need a group bot for your channel.

### Are Shieldy, Combot and Rose free?

The Shieldy bot is free, and its repository lists premium payments through Stripe. The public Rose bot is free, and its site also offers paid Custom Rose Bots. Combot's site lists Free, Pro ($9.99 a month) and Business ($100/month) plans.

Mira has a Free plan, and Pro costs 500 Telegram Stars, 690 RUB or 7 USDT per month. Check each project before you decide, because prices and terms change.

## Our verdict

If you run a channel, we recommend Mira. If spam accounts join your group, we recommend Shieldy. If you need wider moderation or analytics, we recommend Rose or Combot. However, a channel with a linked group often needs Mira and one group bot.
